Green Arrow #27 $2.99
Story: Benjamin Percy
Art and Color: Jamal Campbell
It starts with Arrow and Flash partnering up. They find a murder scene so Barry does his thing. That leaves him occupied while Oliver heads to D.C. Unfortunately someone kills a military figure to further the ninth circles agenda. When Green catches up with that guy Wonder Woman gets involved. She stops him from doing his thing that results in the guy getting away. They do a stakeout after a gripping talk. That ends in what looks like a win but is definitely a lead to the next possible contributor to the ninth circle. It looks absolutely amazing. The story was well structured. It's another brick in a superbly built wall.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Universe #12 $4.99
Writers: Erik Burnham with Sophie Campbell
Artist: Sophie Campbell
Colorist: Brittany Peer
This story begins with a woman getting shot in Japan. The accidental assailant drives off but the shot woman chases her down. They have a quick bout before the shooter gets away. Then it switches over to an old man trying to train the falcon and shark mutants, Koya & Bludgeon. Karai arrives but passes out . The old man gives her a talking to after she wakes. She leaves to settle a score. This essentially sets Karai up to possibly be back in the main TMNT title. Artistically it was stunning. It was in the vein of an Akira manga style.
Story, Art, & Letters: Sophie Campbell
This is just a short illustration with Koya trying to kill herself. In her failure she hears a voice that speaks to her. An ornament of some kind appears as well. My assumption is that this is one of the gods tampering. It's only part one so we'll see where it leads. Overall both stories were solid. The first definitely being the stronger of the two but that's also because it was longer. The art was done by the same artist so it was similar. The art in the second story was way more erratic. That is both a good and bad thing. It stood on its own as a different story but was a little convoluted at first. Once it was clear as to what was going on I wanted to know more. It really just felt like not much more than a teaser. Nonetheless, as a combined work it deserves high marks.

Descender #22 $3.99
Written by Jeff Lemire
Illustrated by Dustin Nguyen
Telsa is drowning, Andy is getting attacked by an army of robots. Dr Quon begs Tim-22 to save Telsa. In his fit of rage he realizes he has the key to his own freedom from his captor. On the other end the full range of the evil robot army is unleashed. At the same time the UGC fleet arrives. This was a nice, short, easy, enjoyable read. It was unexpected and unpredictable. The visuals were stellar and well done but not much variety of color.
