TNTM Talking Nerdy Marvel's Luke Cage on Netflix

Pablo Gunner talks about and reviews MARVEL's Luke Cage on Netflix.
First off Luke Cage is a 13 episode show. Each epi is about an hour. Personally I'm not that well versed in the original Luke Cage comics but I became a big fan when he joined and became the leader of the New Avengers written by Brian Michael Bendis. I've followed and enjoyed the character ever since. So since I wasn't on the up n up with Luke Cage's own first comics I didn't really know what to expect other than it would take place in Harlem and that at some point they would show or explain his origin. I don't know why but I guess I expected more focus on the fighting which doesn't really make sense since Luke is so strong and tough that most fights with him end pretty quickly from one punch or throw. I'll be honest that I didn't realize how good this show was until I finished it. It was a little underwhelming for me at first just because I didn't know where it was going or how it was going to end. Predictability usually isn't a good thing though and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it might be the best Marvel show yet and is definitely the smartest. This show is so deep on so many levels. It's deep emotionally, intellectually, societally, and politically. It covers so many issues with our society, political, and justice systems. It's brilliant. Luke Cage and the other characters like Misty Knight and the night nurse have such an interesting and compelling arc and story. This show is so rich in character and culture. It goes emotionally in depth with its characters. The show has such a great range of music and style. Even the different locations in Harlem seem and feel like different characters each with their own look, style, feel, and tone. If there's any shortcomings of this Marvel Netflix show it's that it's slow but that's only because it takes it time developing all the characters and story. I enjoyed that the men in this show were weak to their emotions especially anger but also greed. The women were the tough ones, focused and driven. It also seems that those who gain power and don't want it don't know what to do with it but those that abuse it want more. It should go without saying at this point that this show has more depth and character than most. It's also more intellectual therefore Luke Cage deserves the highest grade, MUST SEE!

TNTM Talking Nerdy Ratchet & Clank(PS4)

Pablo Gunner talks about and reviews Ratchet & Clank for PS4
First off I feel like I have to come clean by saying that I unfortunately never played Ratchet & Clank back in the day. Now that we got over that hump lets get into this. It starts with a criminal arriving at prison. Then an inmate, Captain Quark, does a retelling of the Ratchet & Clank story to his new fellow inmate. Captain Quark narrates throughout the game, hilariously and superbly so. There's a nice little tutorial. I always appreciate games that have nice, short, and basic tutorials. If you're like me and you've never played a Ratchet & Clank game, it's about furry, raccoon looking, gear-head, alien fella, they call a lombax, who wants to be a galactic police officer but he has a checkered past, and his defective robot buddy, that escaped his evil creator to warn the galactic rangers of an imminent attack, that he fixes up. Together they join forces to stop an evil corporation and super evil scientist from taking over and destroying the universe. It's a story about friends, achieving your dreams, defying the odds, and stopping evil, all while having a blast doing it. The story had twists and turns, some a little more obvious than others. The story was great. A good story is great but a good story with great gameplay is super. You start off with a basic melee weapon you can also throw like a boomerang. Soon you attain bombs and a gun. Throughout the game you gain various weapons, the craziest are a disco ball that distracts enemies, a gun that turns enemies into sheep, and another that changes them to pixels. You can upgrade your weapons based on usage and purchasing. Each world you go to looks different, has different enemies, objectives, optional tasks, and secret hidden goodies. The boss fights are epic especially the final boss which was really challenging. The visuals looked so crisp and amazing which can practically be said with any current gen game so it should go without saying but nonetheless. Overall this game just made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It took me back to those classic PS2 games of yesteryear. It's the first time in a long time I've felt this way and the first time in a long time that I did an all day all night binger playing a game because I just didn't want to stop. This game had everything I could ever want in a game. My only complaint is that Clank was underutilized in gameplay, character, and lines/vocals. Apart from that I have no complaints only high praise. This is a game that's deep enough for adults but also fit for kids. It has that Toy Story feel to it. I must mention that it wasn't a very long game but it does have replay value. With my grade scale of STRONG BUY, BUY, weak BUY, STRONG Rent, Rent, weak Rent, and pass, I give it a BUY.

TNTM Talking Nerdy Overwatch: Origins Edition(PS4)

Pablo Gunner talks about and reviews Overwatch: Origins Edition on PS4

PlayStation had a free weekend of Overwatch so I decided to see what all the fuss is about. I downloaded it, played it, then got bored with it after a few hours. That being said the levels all look amazing. None of them look alike. They all have their own look, style, tone, and personality. The same can be said about the characters. The American constitution may state that all men are created equal but that's not the case in this game which is kind of important in a game like this. Not only are there characters that have more personality, flair, and are just plain more fun to play as but there are ones that are far superior as well. Due to the constantly changing mission objectives, which does help keep it fresh, it gives certain characters advantages for certain missions. This is both a good and bad thing as it forces you to try other characters but once you realize which are the best for certain situations some characters become obsolete. This game may be more varied and fun than most online multiplayer shooters but it essentially dials down to the same thing, how many kills you get. That being the case I'll stick with the best, most fun, and hottest character D. Va even though my personal fav was Widowmaker. As I said though I got bored after a few hours. I don't know if the full game has some sort of story mode for each character but if there was I'd be down for that. I had more fun than I expected to but since there was no story and I don't care much for online multiplayer shooters this still wasn't for me. For my grade scale of STRONG BUY, BUY, weak BUY, STRONG Rent, Rent, weak Rent, and pass, I give Overwatch: Origins Edition for the PS4 a STRONG Rent but if you're into this type of thing I bet it would be more of a BUY.

TNTM Talking Nerdy Netlix's Stranger Things

Pablo Gunner talks about and reviews the Netflix original series, Stranger Things.
Stranger Things is a 55 minute 8 episode show. It reminds me of Silent Hill with a Twilight Zone vibe. From the get go it starts with mystery, intrigue, and a tinge of horror. It takes place in the 80s. It's starts with a preteen group of boys playing a D&D campaign in the basement of a small town house. One of the boys gets stalked by a strange creature on his way home at night. He disappears along with others throughout the duration of the show. A conspiracy is slowly unraveled as the episodes progress. The science and essence of the time is so on point it's extraordinary. The music is magnificent. The kids acting is among some of the most impressive I've ever seen. The whole cast and crew does a superb job making this feel as real as possible. What really sets apart and continues to reinforce the tone is the 80s techno synth music. The show is intense, scary, and phenomenal. Stranger Things is a MUST SEE!!!
